About Club

What Is a Miniature Book Society?

The Miniature Book Society, Inc. is an international non-profit organization chartered in 1983 by the State of Ohio. Its purposes are to sustain an interest in all phases of miniature books, to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and to serve as a clearing house for information about miniature books. MBS is an organization interested in promoting ALL aspects of the book arts; we just happen to like small format.

What Is a Miniature Book?
In the United States, a miniature book is usually considered to be one which is no more than three inches in size--height, width or thickness. Some collectors do occasionally acquire slightly larger books. Outside of the United States, books up to four inches are collected as miniature books.

What Is a Miniature Book Conclave?

Each year the Miniature Book Society holds an annual gathering of MBS members; these annual meetings are referred to as Conclaves. The Conclaves are held in a different place every year. Recent Conclaves have been held in Charleston, South Carolina, Germany, Rutland, Vermont, Indianapolis, Indiana, Covington, Kentucky, and Toronto, Canada, Bath, England. There are speakers, workshops, tours, auctions, book swap meet, and other fun things to do.
