Antiquariaat FORUM July 2010 Recent Acquisitions
On August 21, 1791, the slaves of the French colony Saint-Domingue revolted against their masters. Thirteen years of bloody civil war followed, resulting in the deaths of more than 120,000 people, and the independence of Haiti in 1804. It is against this gruesome background that the gripping story of the black slave Adonis and his master dˇ¦Herouville is set. A rare Dutch translation of this work by Jean-Baptiste Picquenard is one of thirty items in the Recent acquisitions section of our website.
